Original Mixed Media Artwork By Blair Davidson

Massacred In The Name Of Greed was created by chance and deep concern. Blair was experimenting with ink strokes with some old brushes, one turned out to be the perfect shape of an elephant's tusk. From that tusk shape, he wanted to paint the rest of the elephant around it.

Online, he came across several websites with disturbing statistics on poaching and the ivory trade. These statistics inspired him to make this an awareness piece rather than a painting to simply hang on his wall.

From there he built brush style typographic words and placed each fact to make the shape of an elephant's profile. He finished off with the elephant's eye torn in the shape of Africa to bring viewers attention in, hopefully to read the statistics and be moved by the horrible facts.
